About Me

Hello, my name is Sam and I am a writer and broadcaster.

I’m the author of two books: Get Smashed! (2007) and Night Of The Living Dad (2009) and the former editor of heat magazine.

I appear regularly on Sky News and ITV as a pundit and have presented docs for the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5. Most recently I presented the BBC Three documentary ‘Sex, Lies and Gagging Orders.’

I host shows on Talksport and have also presented radio shows on BBC 5Live and BBC London.

Right now, I am adapting my first book, Get Smashed, into an hour long doc for Sky Atlantic. It will be broadcast in March 2012.

I write columns for The Guardian, The Sun and The Big Issue and have also written for The Independent, The Times, The Scotsman, Four Four Two, The New Humanist, GQ, NME, Cosmopolitan, Grazia, Shortlist and countless others.

You can see some old stuff in ‘Words’ section of this site and any new stories I write I usually post links to on the homepage.

In the past I have made documentaries for the BBC (on civil liberties), Channel Four (on teen crime) and Channel Five (on pop culture). Once upon a time, I also had a stint as a special reporter for ITN News.

You can see me reviewing the newspapers on Sky News Sunrise all the time with Eamonn Holmes and Charlotte Hawkins.

You can hear me  on the wireless talking about current affairs, sport, entertainment and all that. I’ve even been allowed on Radio 4 once or twice.

I also give regular talks and lectures on the media, journalism, celebrity and creativity (and pretty much anything else really) to advertising, marketing and PR companies, big brands and institutions such as the London School Of Economics and The University Of Arts.

Oh, and I do a ton of voice overs too. That’s me on the Duracell Bunny ads.

In a past life I was a (very) junior Parliamentary researcher for Harriet Harman and Gordon Brown. It was early 90′s. Labour were cool then.

I enjoy West Ham United, running, sandwiches and the music of Prince, The Pointer Sisters, Public Enemy and other acts beginning with P.

I love all of you. Thanks. Bye.
