I wrote this tribute to the life and career of legendary ad director Bob Brooks in today’s Guardian. Bob features heavily in my first book, Get Smashed, and was very helpful to me throughout the process of writing it. He knew tons about advertising and was very passionate about his industry. When we made the documentary Ad Men, based on my book, for Sky Atlantic earlier this year, we went to interview him down in France. Once again, he couldn’t do enough to help. A top bloke, he died last week aged 85.
