Antonio Carluccio, the finest Italian cook in the land, invited me round his house for lunch yesterday. Italian food is my favourite sort of food (with the possible exception of crisps). When I got there, he told me ‘Sam, now I will make a risotto so good it could end the world!’ He made it using porcinis he had picked himself a few months back and kept frozen. It was awesome. For pudding he made this posh Italian version of bread and butter pudding, using Panatone, mascarpone and Vin Santo. So good, I took a picture of it. It was one of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had (certainly the most memorbale I’ve ever had in Wandsworth). Watching him cook was a genuine privilege, no lie.
